The Chemistry Teaching Masters Study Program is a master stage education provider for chemistry teachers and instructors who already have a bachelor's degree, by providing programs to improve mastery of chemistry concepts and enrichment of chemistry learning methodologies, so that these teachers and instructors can have chemistry teaching competencies that are professionals as stated in Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers. Graduates of this program are expected to actively follow the latest developments in the field of chemical science.

Graduates of the Chemistry Teaching Masters Study Program have been equipped to become general chemistry teachers so they are able to develop creative, interesting and effective chemistry teaching techniques. In addition, graduates of this program are able to develop chemical experimental and research methods related to chemistry teaching materials.

Since its establishment in 2006 until April 2014, the Chemistry Teaching Masters Program has graduated 149 alumni who have served in various teaching institutions. A number of teachers who graduated from this program have won various achievements, including achievements as model teachers and mentoring students who took part in various science competitions in the field of Chemistry, namely the National Science Olympiad (OSN) and the Madrasah Science Competition (KSM).

To become a master education provider for teaching chemistry that excels in science and the application of chemistry in an integrated manner based on the most recent scientific developments so that it can be at the forefront of improving the quality of teaching chemistry and contributing to the welfare of the nation.

The curriculum of the Chemistry Teaching Master Study Program is designed to sharpen understanding of essential chemical concepts, including stoichiometry, atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonds, reaction equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics, core chemistry, elemental chemistry, polymers, organic compounds and biochemistry. The program lasts for 4 semesters and includes a minimum 36 credits, which consists of 27 credits of compulsory courses, 7 credits of directed electives And 2 credits of free elective courses. The compulsory lectures given consist of:

  1. Lectures from five fields of Chemical Science, namely Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, which are summarized in 8 lectures (18 credits).
  2. Teaching Science Lectures, namely Teaching Methodology (2 credits) and Chemistry Learning Design Project (2 credits).
  3. Final Project Lectures (4 credits) and Seminars and Masters Sessions (1 credit)
